Q: I just bought a used 1999 audi a4 and for some reason the headlamp washers don't work at all.?
They dont lift up at all!!!!! Help!!!!! What should I look for? How would I acess them? How much would they charge me at a dealer?

A: Try holding the arm for washer in longer mine only come up after it has been depressed for about 3 seconds. Check your fuses. You can also try removing the front bumper cover and checking to see if the wires are connected. I f recent work was done on the front of the motor the mechanic may have forgotten to reattach the wiring.

Q: comments about 1999 audi a4?
The used audi quattro turbo a4 has 51,000 miles, and the seller asks for $9000. It looks pretty nice and quite new. It comes with all features and maintain records. I am wondering if it reliable to buy and it is expensive for maintaining?

A: definatly don't buy it. both my stepmom and dad have an audi, one a 98 a6 6-speed turbo, the other an 06 a4, the maintenince costs are outrageous, the a4 needs super+ gas, yet it only gets about 20mpgs, the labor, parts, and everything that has to do with the car is expensive. to put things in perspective, a new key cost $125 and an oil change is $70. The 98 a6 isnt reliable. it makes weird noises which inturn leads to a minor tweak that cost $300, if your looking to put people in the backseat, don't expect them to be comfortable. Theres about 4 in. of footroom. Don't get me wrong, there nice cars. There acceleration ability is insane in 6th gear. but unless your willing to schill out 9k for the car then 9k in the next 3-4 years for it, go ahead and buy it. but if your looking for a similar car, that is cheaper to fix, if yu can swing the extra 5k, I'd get an 05 chrysler 300, it is luxurious with twice the size, great power, and descent mpgs and this cars as safe if not safer than the audi. good luck.

Q: What color is my Audi A4?
I just bought a used 2005 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro. The interior is tan and the exterior is black. I'm looking at buying a painted spoiler off of EBay, but I don't know the exact color of black I have. There are like three different blacks that Audi put out in 2005. Does anyone know where I could find the exact color black my car is, either on the car, or by looking or asking somewhere online? Thanks!

A: The sticker on the door should have the exact colour of the car. The VIN number also says the colour but in code. You could call a dealership and ask them to look up the VIN to find you the exact number.

Q: 05 Audi A4, w/ 30k mls, bought used in 3/07 w/19k - rear brk pds/rtrs an are shot? Seem right -11k mls in LA?
I bought this 2005 Audi A4 1.8 with 19k miles in 3/07 in FL. I had it delivered to LA and have driven here, putting 11k miles on it. The rear brakes started making a grinding sound and now the dealer tells me I have to replace the pads and rotors (luckily pad are covered) charging me $350. Does it seem right that they wore out so quickly and is that a fair price?

A: Is LA Louisiana or Los Angeles? If it is the latter, if you have alot of stop and go driving, well maybe if your front brakes are wearing at least as fast. If they are not, I would check that the rear calipers are dragging by not fully releasing or also check that the emergency brake is fully releasing.

Q: Audi A4 reliability ?
I am looking at used 2006 audi A4 as a first car. I am going to be paying for all the repairs myself, so i would like it to be reliable. It will be covered by warranty through 2012, but i expect to keep it longer than that. Is there anything major that i should be worried about? Thanks its is going to be the 2.0l 4-cylinder turbo

A: Personally I've never owned one but a friend of mine had several Audi's including an A4. He loved it and never seemed to have any problems with it, not major ones anyway. German cars tend to be built extremely well, I've had several BMWs and they rarely go wrong. As far as i know there aren't any major problems with the A4 and racking up the miles is fine too because they were built to last. If the cars covered by warranty then to be honest your fine, if anything breaks then you will get it repaired for free. The only thing i would say to check, this goes for all used cars, check the tires aren't bald if they are get a new set thrown in with the deal and also if the cars a manual (stick shift) then make sure the clutch is ok. Other than that you should be fine. Hope that helps

Q: Question about Audi A4 1998....?
I recently bought a used 1998 Audi A4. Its 1.8 turbo and is a 4 cylinder engine. Despite this small enigine i have heard by two people it takes the highest type of gas. Is this true or does this Audi A4 take a simply plus or regular?

A: The Audi 1.8 turbo depending on engine number will run on 95 octane fuel despite having a compression ratio of 10 to 1 .I have owned and worked on Audi's for many years in Europe the octane rating required is on the inside of the filler cap door. The one i currently have has done 128000 miles with no problems except for regular servicing. You have bought a quality motor apart from the occasional Ferrari its the only mass produced vehicle with 5 valves per cylinder(apart from VW passats that use practicaly the same engine.Regards Mick

Q: Audi a4 Replacement Engine?
Hello, I am looking into a used 2002 Audi A4 1.8 Turbo quattro Sedan AWD. It is in need of a new engine, what sort of engine would I put in, and how much would it run? Best Regards

A: Replace the engine with the exact same engine from the manufacturer. It will be much easier and cheaper in the long run. All of the parts are still available, and you can re-use some of the ones that are on the car currently (starter, alternator, manifolds, etc...). A dealer would be the best bet, but it will cost you. The replacement is probably going to be a re-manufactured engine. You are looking at $5000 or more I would guess.

Q: looking for a used car-I really like the 2002 Audi A4, but is there anything comparable price, better value?

A: If you want luxury and speed get the Audi s4(all-wheel drive, twin-turbo v6, optional 6-speed), very easy to get well over 300hp)just a couple grand more or close to the price of many a4's of that year. You can get an older m3(98-99)nice cars.

Q: I am looking into purchasing a used vehicle. I need info on 2003 Audi A4 3.0 or 1.8T Sedan.?
Any info on Audi's performance, maintenance, etc would be most helpful.

A: A4 3.0 IS A 6 CYLINDER A4 1.8T IS A 4CYLINDER I THINK U GET MORE CAR ON A 3.0 BIGGER INTERIOR, SAME OR BETTER GAS MILEAGE, I HAVE A 1.8T QUATTRO AND IT SUCKS GAS AS MUCH AS THE 6 CYLINDER
