Q: I have an 07 Audi A6 Avant, can anyone tell me how the rear hatch is "adjustable" and how to adjust it?
Anyone with an allroad or avant that knows how to this will be really helpful.
A: its not adjustable, i have one as well and i couldn't adjust mine either.
Q: how to install a fuel filter to a 1999 Audi A6 avant?
A: Usually instructions come on the box. I have 1999 Audi too! I got my fuel filter at Autobarn, parts department. It is under car near fuel tank and fairly accessable.
Q: I lost the keys to my 1999 Audi A6 Avant. Will remote car starter take the place of keys?
A: If the remote starter was properly installed. The brake pedal safety switch will cause the starter to shut off. When your key is in the run position this is no big deal, because you car will stay running. however without a key it will die as soon as you go to shift into drive. Also most cars will not allow you to shift out of park without the key being in the run position.
Q: Audi A6 Avant Quatro or A8 quatro?
I have the choice between the two they both have 100k miles and I like both body styles. Hear a lot of good things about the A6. Is the A8 as good? Is it reliable?
the A6 is 2002 and the A8 is 2000
Thanks Both answers were good. I bought The avant for the family. Wow this car is a driving machine with extra room for groceries. Think I'll sell my truck and buy the A8
A: ask your self why do you need it? do you have large family? those questions comes hardy especially when buying anything. avant is an estate which is more of family oriented car and a8 is luxury car. if you dont have family/kids in mind a8 is for you if you do a6 avant for you unless a6 saloon thats whole different kind of story. out for now
Q: What is the new audi a6 avant like?
A: much like the a5 but shinier
Q: Audi A6 Avant?
How do you turn of the air conditioning?
I cant find the button for it and i have read the manual and its not there.
A: On many Audi and Volkswagen cars you have a system called Climatic A/C. It is a rubbish system which tries to makes manual air conditioning behave like climate control. If your Audi has this system, look for the "ECON" button. When you press it a light on button should go on. That means the A/C is off. Also with this system never leave the recirculation button on for more than a couple of minutes as no fresh oxygenated air gets into the car if the windows are closed (Driver Fatigue Risk). All that aside, its a wonderful car!
Q: the audi a6 avant 2.4 is imported from which country?
A: Germany.
Neckarsulm, to be exact :)
Q: Audi A6 3.0 quattro Avant?
I am thinking about purchasing an Audi A6 3.0 quattro Avant. Any ideas about good/bad years, quality of the A6 v A4. A friend has had all sorts of problems with his 1.8 A4 sedan.
The price seams right but is this related to # of problems.
I am a long time VW owner and would like to grow up a little.
A: Anything newer than 2000 is a great choice I don't see many problems other than the CV boots getting worn out or the frontend suspension componets wearing out. the timing belts are an issue if they are not changed at around 60K
Q: Audi A6, Indash sat nav.?
Hi,
I have a 99, V plated Audi A6, avant...I would like to fit a indash sat nav system.
The radio, that is in the car, is a single unit on it's own.....Underneath in it's own unit is the the aircon, temp etc.
On ebay the sellers of the Audi sat nav systems mention, a 2 din cage for the sat nav to be fitted.
With the radio and temp system being seperate units, would I be able to fit a indash sat nav system into my car?
Thanks, in advance....................Audi A6.
A: The double din system is for the later A6s and it would be damn near impossible to fit to yours.
Why not go for something like a Pioneer AVIC system with a motorised screen which will fit straight in and will only need the GPS aerial and reverse wiring up. They don't even need speed pulse and the very latest ones give you blue tooth hands free for your mobile phone as well
Q: Audi ABS brake noises?
The brakes on my 97 Audi A6 avant make a thumping sound when applying the brakes at slow speed. The noise seems to be coming from the abs unit under the bonnet.
Other symptoms include the brake pedal juddering when slow speed braking.
However when i perform an emergency stop the abs works fine.
Any ideas how to fix it or is the abs unit kaput ??
A: It sounds like the rotor is warped. This could throw the ABS into a headspin but that does not mean the ABS is bad. That would make another noise like a ticking and the ABS warning lamp would have come on. Also could be the front suspension; if it has more than 50km miles it should be inspected.
Q: looking for a great family car with exceptional fuel economy?
My wife and I are once again searching for another vehicle, I drive an S4 and she has an C class Benz, both of which don't really cater to our needs as a family (2 kids).
We're looking for either an SUV or Station Wagon that we can comfortably go on a long trip in, that means GPS navigation, very roomy, entertainment in the backseat to keep the kid's quiet, and a very spacious trunk.
Preferably with good fuel economy too, I know it's hard to find these days, but I don't want to be dealing with 12 MPG.
Our budget is $50,000.
Some cars that interest us are
- Audi A6 Avant
- Porsche Cayenne
- Volkswagen Touareg
- BMW X5
- Acura MDX
any suggestion?
Thanks
A: Hi.......seems like you prefer foreign cars, and expensive ones too. The VW touareg is a great car, but even with the small 8, i dont think gas mileage would be good. The Porsche is cute, but kinda small. You may want to consider a mini van, i like the Toyota version myself, the Sienna. Good on gas and quite roomy too. A well equipped one is low 30's i think, and the reliability and resale is above average. SUV's dont generally get good mpg, their just too big or boxy, or even heavy. I have a Nissan Pathfinder now, great truck, love the 4wd option, but its heavy, and with the 6 cylinder, automatic, it only gets about 17 mpg, and thats a small SUV by comparison to some of today's vehicles. I know the minivan gives off the "soccer mom" image, but the Sienna will grow on you. And after a few years of comfortable driving, with lots of room for the kids and cargo, and decent gas mpg.........your wallet will be pleased..........Good Luck!!
Q: Is it too late to service my transmission?
I have a 2000 A6 Audi Avant Quattro, 2.8 liter, 100k miles. Car runs great.
I have never serviced the transmission. Probably a big mistake but just never did it. The car runs great, no splip or any sign of tranny problems.
Was I supposed to have serviced it? When?
And... what should I do now? I want to keep the car for another 100k miles.
A: Its a sealed transmission, the recommendation is to do a fluid change every 36000 miles or every two years. If I were you I would go and get it serviced right now. The point of preventative maintenance is to follow the guidelines to prevent future problems, once you start having problems with your tranny its too late to do a fluid change.
Q: Audi A6 Brakes?
1997 Avant Quattro: Pads & Rotors for all 4. 120k on it.
All the rest of the major work has been done for the miles.
Current lowest quote is $890 from the dealer.
Do I have it done, or dump the car?
Thanks for the answers.
I don't have the time to do it.
The rotors are apparently rusty and they said if they were turned then they would be below spec. Is that a reason to replace?
A: Did the dealer check your rotors for runout? Because the rotors should be dumped only if they're below minimum safe thickness, have scores deeper than 0.060", have parallelism or are warped.
If the rotors were damaged some way, then yes, they absolutely need to be replaced--and the pads along with them. Do this one major service, and then keep up on your brake maintenance. So long as you replace the pads within the specified service interval and your wheels are always torqued properly, you'll be able to avoid replacing the rotors again for quite some time.
Unfortunately, there are some instances where the rotors can't be machined with an on-the-car brake lathe (BMW's, for instance, have captive rotors that can't be machined on the car because of the dust shield). An on-the-car lathe is the only way to correct parallelism in the rotors. But I would get a second opinion at an independent shop that specializes in Audi...they might quote you a more reasonable price, though the dealer is offering you the fair going rate. Please don't dump a good car because of one $900 bill.
Q: Round-Country Road Trip Cost?
Any insight into important things to consider and overall cost of a road trip across the country and back? We (just two of us) would be starting in eastern PA (where we live), then taking a central route so we can see some of the national parks out west (most likely the CO/UT vicinity), see Yosemite, then going to San Francisco (prob stay in a hostel we know of). After that, we want to head south and hit up LA and San Diego, then head into AZ to see the Grand Canyon and petrified forest. We want to see stuff in TX, most likely San Antonio. Then we wish to stop by New Orleans and do do a couple days worth of volunteer work, then eventually getting to FL and using Amtrak reward points towards taking the Auto Train up to VA (as far as it goes) and returning to PA. That's just a very general outline. We would like to keep costs as low as possible, possibly some camping here and there. We're driving an AUDI A6 Avant, so plenty of storage space and comfy ride. Takes premium gas though.
A: Here are some ways to save money and still enjoy the trip:
Stay in motels during the week, rather than on weekends, generally they are cheaper then (exception is some large cities with a lot of business travelers).
Eat breakfast out, it tends to be the least expensive, and keep a cooler in your car with salad, sandwich items, fruit, and drinks. You could take a gas barbecue with you have treat yourself to steaks, burgers and whatever by utilizing city or county parks, rest areas or even outside at a motel, and certainly at camping areas.
If you don't have reservations in advance, plan to stop traveling by 3 - 5 pm.
If you are doing some camping, having an easy to put up and take down tent is a plus, and having your car arranged for maximum ease of packing and unpacking will save a lot of stress!
To figure gas costs, Do a rough estimate of the miles you will travel, add 20% to that, then multiply by the max amount of the cost of gas (see http://www.gasbuddy.com ). If you are traveling in summer, be aware gas costs are generally more, so plan accordingly.
Motel costs will avg $45-85 depending on location. In some places you will pay upwards of $100 or more if it is a busy weekend, or special events are on. Campground costs avg $12-25 a night for most places, more if it is a campsite in an RV Park.
Have a great time! Sounds wonderful!!
