Q: What do women prefer? Convertible or BMW/Audi?
A friend of mine wants to buy a car to amaze women. He's deciding between a megane (convertible) and a BMW or an Audi. What do you think that will be better to amaze those girls?

A: He will only get attention from shallow women that way. Decent ladies look for personality, not what kind of car he drives. The bimbos would probably go for the Beamer, they wouldn't want to mess up their hair in a convertible. (save the convertible for the mid-life crisis) If your friend is a troll, no car will help him, unless he has a thick wallet and willing to spend his money. That would be pretty sad though, having to "buy" others' attention. Nothing's sexier than a great personality.

A: As far as I know, there's no convertible version of the new Audi A3 in production yet.

Q: Can you take a convertible through an auto car wash?
I have a Mister Car wash pass and I just bought an Audi Convertible want to know if the car wash does damage to the top. What would u do?

A: don't take your convertible or any car to an auto car wash. wash it yourself they scratch and damage the paint. and yes your top will leak sooner or later don't speed up the process by using a car wash.

Q: how much petrol is left when on reserve, on a audi convertible 1.8,on a t-plate?


A: The most Ive gone on reserve is about 10 miles. Have not wanted to test it any further.

Q: How can I keep unwanted cats from napping on my convertible soft-top?
I have a black Audi TT convertible with black soft top. Just paid a pretty penny to have it detailed completely. This morning, I went out to my carport ready to leave for work and there were little muddy footprints on the trunk and white fur on the roof! Oh, I suspect this same cat is the one who used my poolside tiki bar as a scratching post!!! What's good for keeping cats away? Suggestions? FYI... for those that say "cover" my car, I just paid to have a carport built to do just that (bylaws prohibit enclosed garages). For those that say "get over it" or that feel it is my fault, why should my right to a vehicle of my choice be sacrificed for someone elses right to have a cat, then set the cat about the neighborhood? I actually like cats, so I don't want to resort to anti-freeze, but I am entitled to want to keep my car in good, clean shape. I was hoping for deterent solutions so I thank those that seriously offer some (although dogs are not an option... I travel too much to be responsible for a pet). I have heard of sprays, plants, and the like that cats do not like so details along that direction is what I am looking for. Thank you, Sarah B.! A: This is a link for Shake-away I've never actually tried this one, but I have used other things like it. You may be able to go to a lawn and garden center and ask them too. Just create a perimiter around the carport, and it should create a barrier.

Q: AUDI 80 convertible roof?
HI ,have a problem with my audi roof.works as it should until rear cover should come up then it stops .if i give rear cover a hand to lift it will but roof will not fold away .any ideas ?can i fold away manually ?if so how?thanks

A: if it hasnt been used for a whille then the pivit points will need lubed...a couple of dropds on oil on each will help...is its electric when its moving use your hands to give it a little push...after a couple of times it should sort its self out.

Q: Why does "green" mean ugly? Can't someone develop a "green" sporty looking convertible car- like the Audi TT?


A: There is an old saying that 'form follows function." It means that something will take a certain shape based on what the thing is supposed to do. Take a dolplin, for example. It is a mammal, like an elephant or a human. But the dolphin adopted a certain shape (form) because it aids in it's primary function (swimming) A dolphin needs to be shaped that way to work the best in water. Elephants, are shaped the way they are to do what they do more efficiently, namely, use their nose to pick fruit because their feet (where their hands would be) are busy holding up the enormous weight they need to knock down trees. Maybe, someday, when we get this fuel efficiency thing down to the point that we can generate far more electrical power than we need to move the car efficiently, are cars can look like we want them to. But for now, they need to be shaped like a dolphin with wheels (Prius, for example) to slip through the air as efficiently as possible and use less energy. Compared to the Prius, the Audi TT is as about as aerodymanic as a brick (although we know that there are a lot less aerodynamic designs than th TT out there) When you have a huge powerplant in your car, it doesn't matter how it's shaped. The brute force of the engine will push it through the air. But when you need efficiency and you have a small engine, you have very little room for changing the shape without compromising efficiency.

im 19 and ive been driving for over a year and i want a new sports car.at the moment i have a mini one but i want some thing faster and sportier. i love the Z4 but i dont think its practical as i go out alot with my mates. my budget is £15,000 max.room for 4 people.

A: All of the cars you quote are great, though at 19 yrs old, you may struggle to find an insurance company that will cover you for a price that's less than eye watering. Personally, I'd avoid convertibles - they're just a bit too gay. The X5 isn't a sports car and is horrendously expensive to run. Resale values are dropping like a stone on these. The Audi TT old shape is better value now that the new shape has been released, though a Friend of mine had no end of trouble with his 4 yrd old model (serious engine problems). So I think the Z4 has to take top of the list for me. I'd recommend that you also consider an MX5 or Lotus Elise for a more genuine sports car experience. The Elise is a fantastic car a real head turner, with performance and handling that will kick the ass of many more expensive cars. You can pick up good Second hand examples - 4 yrs old for less than 15k nowadays.

A: I didnt know they made RS4 convertibles, I thought the sportest version of the A4 convertible is the S4,

A: Not from audi. there may be an aftermarket one out there somewhere, but I would question the fit, as Audi stock parts are mostly complicated.

Q: Help about convertible top?
I have a 96' or 97' Audi Convertible. The top on the convertible only goes about halfway down, so I am wondering if you know about anywhere that the price range might be to fix this, or have any ideas about what might be wrong.

A: Could be motor or something binding in the top structure. Take to a body shop as they fix this kind of stuff all the time. Get an estimate to repair. these are free, so shop around.
